After celebrating their one year anniversary this year in March, it seems that they have called timeout on their relationship.
The chart-topping couple were set up by their mutual friend Ellie Goulding, as she introduced them at the BRIT Awards afterparty in London last year.
The pair were named as the music industry’s highest-paid celebrity couple last year, with combined earnings of more than $146 million.
The split comes just a few months after Taylor gushed about the pairs ‘magical relationship’ .
“I’m just taking things as they come. I’m in a magical relationship right now. And of course I want it to be ours, and low key…; This is the one thing that’s been mine about my personal life,” she said.
It would seem that it was Calvin that initiated the break up with claims that he wasn’t as into the relationship as she was and that they had become more like friends than lovers, as an insider told E ‘Taylor’s heart was more in it than he was. He started to lose interest over the past few months, but really tried to not just break up.’
Their differing tour schedules and travelling is most likely to have been a key factor in the downfall of the relationship, as well as their social circles being wildly different.
There hasn’t been any rumours of cheating in the relationship, so it seems that their split was amicable and a source has told the press that there was ‘no drama’.
Calvin, whose real name is Adam Wiles was seen looking down-heartened in LA on Tuesday, following a trip to London – the first time he has been photographed since being involved in a car accident last month.
While Taylor has been said to have been very upset by the split, but is feeling okay about the situation now.
